Some costs associated with your job search may be tax deductible!
That's right! Your job search expenses may qualify you for deductions you can take on your tax return. You should consult your tax preparer to find out exactly what the IRS will allow. Expenses like these are a few you should keep track of during your job search.
Keep in mind, these should all be directly associated with your job search within your usual line of work. Also, you cannot deduct any expenses which your new employer will reimburse you for. These expenses are deductible only as miscellaneous itemized deductions, which means they are deductible only to the extent they exceed 2% of your adjusted gross income.
